I am not at home these days. So very sadly, I didn't see a single live ball bowled by brilliant quatret of Zaheer, Sreesanth, Kumble and VRV in our first ever test win in African country.
Reading newspapers have become the single mode for me. What is more surprizing is the reviews those newspaper reporters are writing these days. An Indian team, whom they hated so much 5 days back, wanted to change 10-12 players out oDravid with our flag.jpgf it - have switched positions and now see only good things about our Indian cricket team.
The 2nd India vs South Africa test match starts on Boxing day - 26th of December at Durban. I appeal to all of my fellow Indian cricket lovers that they should be happy with this win - but keep their emotions within themselves till we convert this TEST WIN into a TEST SERIES WIN.
I am sure we have won only 1 test match out of 10 we have played in South Africa - but this win has come in the very first test of a brand new series. So if the series ends at 2-1 in favour of South Africa.... or even 1-1 draw - we will be the losers. After winning the first test - our team is in a position to win the series with just one more win out of two remaining test matches (3rd test starts on 2nd January at Cape Town), and we must do it this time.... at whatever cost.
Staying hungry is what our Team India needs. But I guess our Indian public also needs to learn not to get satisfied so soon with only one win... and then start crying when these seldom wins take too long to come. Indian cricket is at a position today where we can beat ANYONE on OURDAY, but to be a team to beat ANYONE EVERYDAY- we need to learn to stay hungry. Take every match as a do-or-die and keep the intencity up.
May be I am a little too critical to my cricket team - but I guess someone needs to tell them that the job is not over as yet. In fact - our team has only proved they are educated enough for being given an opportunity - NOW GO OUT THERE AND DO WHAT NO ONE EXPECTED, BUT ME - A test series win over South Africa in South Africa.
I am sure Our captain Rahul Dravid and rest of 15 golden boys will be up to the task.
