Match summary
Coming out of a rare two months rest, Indians began new season confidently today, beating Sri Lankans by 21 runs although the match was closer than the margin reflects.
Electing to bat first, Indian openers were found rusty, mistiming shots and messing up running between then wickets before Gambhir was bowled around the legs by Nuwan Kulasekara. Then onwards, it was Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli show as the pair added wonderful 173 runs. Sehwag missed his century through run out but Kohli completed his 12th ODI century, 3rd in last 4 innings. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni propelled Indians past 300 runs mark.
Sri Lankans lost star Dilshan early on but Kumar Sangakkara was in mood, making a megnificent yet litte slow century, his 15th in career. Thisara Perera's onslought late in the innings made the match pretty interesting but Indians held their nerves.
