West Indies hadn't won a bilateral series, of tests, ODI or T20s, since they beat Bangladesh back in October 2011, losing 3 test series, 3 ODI series 3 T20 series but now, with a struggling Kiwi side at their shores, Caribbean team turned the tables around, winning T20 series 2-0 and today, they secured ODI series 3-1 with one match remaining..
And it was a hard fought victory for home team as they overcame Ross Taylor's megnificent century. New Zealand, chasing formidable 265 on a not so flat deck, were given free-flowing start by Rob Nicol despite Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum departing cheaply from other end. Nicol and Kane Williamson got out 3 overs apart to reduce kiwis to 4 for 75 when Taylor began the fight back with young Tom Latham. The pair added 71 valuable runs and now onwards, it was just a matter of finishing the chase. Taylor accelerated admirably but didn't get any support from other end. Sunil Narine's spin and Tino Best's attacking bowling stopped Kiwis 24 runs short.
Earlier, Windies struggled having elected to bat, losing 3 wickets for just 20 runs and then half the team as soon as three figures were raised on scoreboard. Kieron Pollard, Devon Thomas, Darren Sammy and Andre Russell's late surge stretched windies to a defendable target.
Sunil Narine was named man of the match for his ultra economical bowling.
