Head to head

43rd Sri Lanka v Pakistan test match it was. now, we've had 10 draws while Pakistan leads 16 to 10. In Sri Lanka, two teams clashed for the 18th time and visitors have won 6 tests while home team have 4 wins besides 8 draws.

End of day 1 : SL 1st inn 44/3 in 14.4 ovs (Paranavitana 13*)
It was a swinging day, both for the ball and the fortunes. Having won a good toss, Lankans elected to bowl first and soon reduced visitors to 4 for 56 untill Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq lead the fight back in second session. Asad Shafiq's lion hearted effort meant Pakistan crossed double century mark but danger wasn't over yet as Thisara Perera grabbed four wickets. In first innings, Sri Lankans themselves lost wickets in a hurry to even out the match at stumps.

End of day 2 : SL 1st inn 44/3 in 14.4 ovs (Paranavitana 13*)
After a swinging day, we had a rainy day. Not a single ball was bowled and umpires called it stumps shortly after the tea break! Thankfully, 13 wickets that fell on first day will keep chances on for a decisive result.

End of day 3 : Pak 2nd inn 27/1 in 6 ovs (Hafeez 8* + Ali 6*)
Weather cleared up and Pakistan came out hungry for wickets today, bowling very well in first hour but Paranavitana and Samaraweera negotiated out everything, reaching respective seventies. Visitors hit back once the stand was broken but Thisara Perera's counter attacking innings fetched home team a sizable 111 runs lead and then Taufeeq Umar was trapped lbw having kept wicket for the innings. Lankans are at drivers seat now.

End of day 4 : Pak 2nd inn 299/8 in 104 ovs (Shafiq 55* + Akmal 0*)
Azhar Ali now is the only batsman to score 3 centuries this year, and in process, he drove Pakistan to a solid position before Rangana Herath scripted Lankan comeback. Asad Shafiq made sure visitors don't collapse, staying unbeaten with injured Adnan Akmal coming in lower down the order. An intriguing last day on cards..

End of day 5 : end of the match
Asad Shafiq controlled the game very well in first session, stretching his partnership with Adnan Akmal before Misbah declared. Kumar Sangakkara once again batted well but time wasn't enough either for his to reach century or for Sri Lanka to win. Match was called off as draw.
