India's left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who was dropped from the team quite sometime ago,has been picked up again for the upcoming ODI series in Sri Lanka and is more excited and determined than ever to make his place in the team permanent."Obviously, there is a sense of relief that I am back in the ODI scheme of things," Ojha Was quoted saying. "Who isn't happy to wear the India jersey? I have been working very hard. I would like to let my performance do the talking for me. My aim is to perform consistently and play in all three formats for a long time." Ojha, who had an average performance at the IPL, picking up 9 wickets in 9 matches at 24.44, last played for India in the Test series against West Indies at home in November last year, but he hasn't played an ODI for the nation for almost 2 years, his last match being against Sri Lanka. Ojha is looking forward to show what he is capable of in the upcoming 5-ODI series when India tour their neighbors on the island of Sri Lanka. "The new season starts with this tour," he added. "Irrespective of the format, if you hit form early, it helps you to carry on with the momentum." Ojha plays for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy and has been brushing up on the sport domestically, playing in Chennai as well and is in good form for the clash. He will join off-spinner R Ashwin and leg-spinner Rahul Sharma in an all-out spin attack, which is suited for Lankan conditions. "I have been trying out a few variations in the nets, but I would only try bowling those deliveries once I am fully confident about using those deliveries in match situations," Ojha said. He also spoke about his relationship with R Ashwin, who would be accompanying him to Sri Lanka and was quoted saying: "Me and Ashwin have played against each other and together (for South Zone) since our U-16 days. When a quality bowler like Ashwin operates from the other end, you also get confidence." This spinner looks ready for the clash and will definitely give it his all. The series starts on the 21st of July with 5 ODIs after which the two teams play one T20 match. Related Articles |
