Head to head
41st Sri Lanka v Pakistan test match it was. Now, Sri Lanka have 10 wins but Pakistan lead at 16 with 9 draws. In Sri Lanka, two teams clash for the 16th time with it was Sri Lanka's only 4th win besides 6 defeats and 6 draws. At the venue, Galle, Sri Lanka now leads 2-1 with one draw..
End of day 1 : SL 300/2 in 90 ovs (Sangakka 111* + Jayawardene 55*)
Pakistan have just failed to turn up for this series, at least so far, including today's first day of first test when Sri Lankan won the toss and put up one partnership after another. Tillakaratne Dilshan made his 13th century while Sangakkara notched up his 29th, equally Sir Donald Bradman. Captain Jayawardene stood unbeaten on a classical half century at the end of the day. Saeed Ajmal was only bowler who made some impression on home team but visitors have fallen into a ditch already.
End of day 2 : Pak 48/5 in 24 ovs (Younis 15* + Ayub 1*)
As many as 13 wickets fell today but Sri Lankans remained in drivers seat. Kumar Sangakkara was left high and dry on 199 as his mates got out from other end but then, Pakistani top order batted irresponsibly on the same pitch they couldn't trouble Lankans. Younis Khan is now the last hope standing for visitors, other than rain!!
End of day 3 : Pak 36/3 in 15 ovs (Younis 0* + Ajmal 11*)
Another disappointing day for the visitors as home team wrapped them up pretty easily, set a target over five hundred and then ate up first 3 batsmen. Pakistan almost have no chance to a comeback into the match.
End of day 4 : end of the match
Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq showed rest of the mates how to bat but result of this game was already written on the walls. Lankans completed a comfortable win by the end of the penultimate day..
