Match summaryHow snatch a win from the jaws of defeat is someting every team wants to learn but the vise versa = how to lose a match you've almost won, is something Pakistan are masters at. Time and again we've seen green team throw away matches from positions of dominance and today was just such another day. Angelo Mathews kept Sri Lankan fight till the very end but the way Pakistan fielded and bowled in the last half, they lost the match more than Lankans won it..
Electing to bat first, Pakistan were given a solid platform with Imran Farhat and Azhar Ali adding patient 60 runs ad then Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq kept the tempo going. Umar Akmal provided the acceleration with an unbeaten half century innings but still, target remained below five runs an over.
Sri Lankan chase didn't start untill they lost both the openers. Dinesh Chandimal and Kumar Sangakkara set the platform but back to back dismissals of Jayawardene and Perera set home team back. Ajantha Mendis provided the much needed fire power while Angelo Mathews held fort from other end and then finished the match blasting Mohammad Sami all around the park.
2 wicket victory is smallest in Pak v SL ODI ever!
