Match summary
Once you have runs on board, Pakistani batsmen often fail under pressure and that's excatly what happened at RPS where rain gods finally let up play for 7 odd hours. Electing to bat first, Lankans started solidly with Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan but it wasn't untill Mahela Jayawardene that their innings got the momentum. Pakistan, despite bowling well in patches, allowed a defendable total on board thanks to Sangakkara's near century.
For the second time running, Azhar Ali played a lone battle, adding century stand with Misbah-ul-Haq but once these two were separated, visitor's challenge came crashing down. Thisara Perera ate up Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi and Sarfraz Ahmed off consecutive balls to complete a hat-trick, and seal the deal.
