Tag Pak-SL-2012

Cricket has changed so much in recent times that everytime an opener bats out the full quota of overs, we expect him to raise a tall score but it wasn't the case with Tillakaratne Dilshan in this match. and understandably so too, as pitch at Pallekele wasn't ideal for batting, making it a commendable effort from Dilshan to navigate through the middle overs and set the platform for a winning total on board..

Electing to bat first, home team found going easy against Umar Gul, negotiating good swing extracted by Sohail Tanvir from other end who eventually made the first break through. Kumar Sangakkara didn't last long and at this point of time, match was in balance. Even Dinesh Chandimal couldn't accelerate the scoring but he made sure Lankans had plenty of wicket in hand with last hour's play.

Mahela Jayawardene joined Dilshan and half century stand was raised off just 56 balls. Jayawardene got out with a better than run a ball fifty while Dilshan finished the innings, reaching his century.

Pakistan were never in the chase, despite a fighting innings from Azhar Ali. Thisara Perera proved to be the chief destroyer, taking career best 6 wicket haul and snatching the man of the match award too.
