Chennai looked set to complete hat-trick of IPL once they put a strong total on board and then removed in-form opposition captain cheaply but surprise came in form of Manvinder Bisla who struck the ball cleanly and put together a resounding stand of 136 runs. After that, it was just a matter for visitors to keep their nerves and they did, overhauling 10th largest target in IPL ever.

Earlier, Chennai won what everyone expected a valuable toss and elected to bat without any hesitation. Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay gave home team a rocket start, putting on 87 runs in first half and the Suresh Raina took center stage. Hussey ran breathlessly between the wickets, turning ones into twos before he threw away his wicket trying to attack from both ends. Raina played his best innings of the season and retained the record of scoring more than 400 runs each season.
