Match summaryHow can you drop the leading wicket taker of the season? how can you demote the proven destroyer down the order after he's opened in all of his 63 innings in IPL in past? How can you open the bowling in this knock-out with someone playing his first game of the season? Well, it seemed like Delhi didn't wanted to win today and they got their wish..
Set against a tall target, Mahela Jayawardene was only batsman who showed some fight while rest of Daredevils came and returned as if their flight back home was on the runway. Chennai bowled and fielded as they meant business and qualified for the final for the 4th time in 5 years!
Earlier, Chennai welcomed the opportunity to bat first with Murali Vijay showing no mercy to the new ball. Michael Hussey rotated the strike and Vijay raced to his half century, his first of the season, off just 28 balls. Chennai enjoyed the fact that visitors had excluded Morne Morkel and Suresh Raina added another 69 runs with Vijay. MS Dhoni continued the momentum when Vijay got little slow towards his century while Dwayne Bravo finished with a flourish. Vijay is now only Indian batsman to score two century in IPL.
Most expensive spells : Varun Aaron was taken for 63 runs in this match, the most given away by any bowler in IPL ever.
