Head to head

147th England v West Indies test match it was. Now, England have won 44 but West Indies still lead at 53 wins with 49 draws. In England, two teams clashed for the 82nd time and England are marginally ahead at 32 wins to 29 with 21 draws. At the venue, this was first defeat for West Indies ever, after 22 first class matches unbeaten run. They had won 4 tests and drawn 4 times here before this loss.

End of day 1 : WI 304/6 in 90 ovs (Samuels 107* + Sammy 88*)
Without a cloud in sky, it seemed like an obvious decision from West Indies to bat first but James Anderson bowled his heart out in first session, reducing visitors to 4 down and then two more wickets fell after lunch break and it seemed like a wrong decision but wait, the surprise was yet to arrive = Darren Sammy. Windies skipper made the perfect counter attacking foil for Samuels and both collected 150 runs in last session to lead remarkable recovery.

End of day 2 : Eng 259/2 in 68 ovs (Strauss 102* + Pietersen 72*)
English bowlers looked flat to start off second day, allowing Darren Sammy reach his maiden century without any trouble but once Tim Bresnan broke the double century stand, visitors packed up pretty quickly and then home team captain Andrew Strauss scored his back to back century in second test to bring the match back into balance. intriguing next 3 days becon..

End of day 3 : WI 61/6 in 26 ovs (Samuels 13* + Sammy 0*)
If anyone needed an example of why tests are the best/toughest format of cricket, today's play was one. West Indies, who've not won a real test match for a while now, have been fighting ever since this tour started and they did to today again but England slowly but surely re-arrested the drivers seat in last session. Tim Bresnan turned the match around with his important runs to fetch 58 runs lead for home team and then three wickets. Windies are almost out of this match unless star of first innings, Samuels and Sammy, do the magic again.

End of day 4 : end of the match
Marlon Samuels fought a lone battle today, top scoring for visitors after his century in first innings and then claimed the only wicket to fall in England's second innings as they chased down tricky target with ease.
