England tour of India starts late October and is schuduled to end late January, comprising 5 practice matches, 4 tests, 2 T20 matches and 5 one day games. England will break just before Christmas Eve and get to go home for the holidays and then return to resume the rest of the series after the New Year.

Ahead of the tour, England will partake in a 3 day training camp at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai. This was confirmed by the official ECB website. Looking forward to the tour, a statement issues by the ECB said, "ECB will also be seeking to finalise an England Performance Programme camp in India before Christmas which will help prepare members of both our Test and T20 squads."

However, more than 5 months before the tour and both boards are already having problems. India have traditionally never propagated and advocated the Decision Review System, while England have openly supported it. English players feel quite comfortable with the DRS and are keen to have it implemented as a regulation in international cricket. India however, have always felt that they find themselves at the wrong end of the stick and dont support the DRS. While talks are on, the Telegraph newspaper reported that sources within the England cricket board feel their efforts to try and convince their Indian counterparts to agree to incoporate the DRS would be futile.

Coming back to the actual tour, England is convinced that they will treat it to be as important as the Ashes and if anything, it will work as a good oppotunity to get their players to be mentally and physically prepared for the Ashes.

This series would be England's first complete tour to India since 2008 which remarkably allows enough practice time and rest to their players. It also includes all three versions of cricket (test, ODI and T20s), so the team expects all the players to be aptly tested. Speaking to a Cricketing website, Hugh Morris, the director of the ECB said, "This will be England's first full tour of India since 2008 and I am sure that cricket fans in both countries will be eagerly anticipating an exciting series of contests in all three formats of the game."
