Head to head

9th Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals IPL match it was and now Mumbai have taken the lead with 5 wins to 4..

Match summary

Not that result of this last league match was to have any effect on the points table, it was important for Mumbai Indians (who already had qualified for play-offs) to do well against Rajasthan Royals. They thumped them! thanks to a record opening partnership in IPL by Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar..

Electing to bat first, Rajasthan lost their ter performing openers for almost nothing on board to Dhawal Kulkarni who was playing his first game of the season. Shane Watson and Stuart Binny put together a counter attacking stand of 53 runs but there still was a requirement of some more acceleration. Owais shah ans Ashok Menaria tried their bit and Rajasthan posted a defendable total on board but Smith and Tendulkar had other ideas. Smith timed the ball perfectly to begin with and hence Tendulkar took the second fiddle. Soon, both batsmen unleashed their full range and Mumbai cruised home with all wickets in hand.

Fact : This was first ever defeat for Rajasthan having scored more than 160 runs batting first.
