It ain't no secret that Pune, who began the tournament with few good wins, have proved to be the poorest of the season and the fact was sealed by Kolkata today who beat them by healthy margin of 34 runs and hence booked a solid second spot for themselves in points table which will allow them two chances to final..

Electing to bat first, in-form Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir didn't find the ball coming on this bat that nicely but Brendon McCullum was timing okay. Aggressive Shakib Al Hasan joined him as perfect foil, striking couple of sixes in his rapid 42 runs to bring some acceleration to visitors' innings. Yusuf Pathan once again couldn't find boundary towards the end and Kolkata ended with below par total but Pune performed even worse. There was no intent from home team and they surrendered 34 runs defeat.
