Head to head9th Kings XI Punjab v Delhi Daredevils IPL match it was and now Delhi have won 4 but Punjab still lead with 5 victories.
Match summaryDelhi's top order batting has been the best in the tournament, scoring runs at fastest rate among all teams but it was always a question whether Daredevils can win a match if openers fail? well, today it did but home team survived thanks to Mahela Jayawardene and also cause target over head wasn't too big. As for Punjab, this was yet another must win game and now they're out of contention for play-offs, almost..
Electing to bat first, Mandeep Singh started Punjab's innings counter attackingly but Shaun Marsh failed once again to slow him down. Nitin Saini didn't last long either, neither did David Miller or Azhar Mahmood or even star of last match = Gurkeerat Singh. Umesh Yadav bowled the best, taking 3 wickets. Captain David Hussey continued to fight a lone battle at other end, managing a blow par total on board in this must win game.
Chasing their below par target, Delhi lost David Warner in 3rd over and then Parvinder Awana bowled a firey spell eating up Virender Sehwag, Venugopal Rao and Ross Taylor but Mahela Jayawardene wasn't going anywhere. He collected rebuilding 58 runs with Naman Ojha and then finished the match with Irfan Pathan.
