Electing to bat first, Mandeep Singh started Punjab's innings counter attackingly but Shaun Marsh failed once again to slow him down. Nitin Saini didn't last long either, neither did David Miller or Azhar Mahmood or even star of last match = Gurkeerat Singh. Umesh Yadav bowled the best, taking 3 wickets. Captain David Hussey continued to fight a lone battle at other end, managing a blow par total on board in this must win game.

Chasing their below par target, Delhi lost David Warner in 3rd over and then Parvinder Awana bowled a firey spell eating up Virender Sehwag, Venugopal Rao and Ross Taylor but Mahela Jayawardene wasn't going anywhere. He collected rebuilding 58 runs with Naman Ojha and then finished the match with Irfan Pathan.
