Talent in Rohit Sharma is undeniable but how often, or consistently, do we see this right hander convert it into match winning innings? Today at Eden Gardens, Rohit silenced home crowd and home team Kolkata fair and square, smashing his maiden IPL century, the 4th of the season overall.

Electing to bat first, Mumbai lost star Sachin Tendulkar as early as in 3rd over as he tried to loft smart Shakib Al Hasan with the new ball but Rohit Sharma soaked up all the pressure and built up a beautiful innings in association with Herschelle Gibbs who was playing his first game of the season and hence didn't show his full arsenals.

Kolkata were never in hunt, specially after losing both openers in first 8 balls of the innings. Jacques Kallis and Manoj Tiwary collected 57 runs from 50 balls while Yusuf Pathan accelerated towards the end but asking rate had already blown out of proportions.
