Indian team can still draw the ODI series.


Match fixing controversy happened in 1996. People said they'll stop watching cricket from now on.

Then we had two disastrous tours of South Africa, one of Australia and again two series in New Zealand. People said our team is worst of them all. I won't watch cricket from now on.

Then Australia came home and won the test series which Steve Waugh called as final frontier. People said we can't even win at home. I am not interested in cricket anymore.

After the sacking of Sourav Ganguly about a year ago, Dravid-Chappell-More trio started a mission to build a World Cup winning Indian squad. Today as I write this, we have lost the 3rd ODI at Newlands Cape town and are at the blink of losing the ODI series.

You might have spelled the words - "I'm not going to watch cricket ever again" after todays loss, but the fact is you will. You always have and always will.

In fact we have Dravid, Dhoni and Sachin among the runs now and even Dinesh Karthik looked good. We also have Zaheer and KumblChappell More.jpge bowling very well. Although we lost at Cape Town but there are at least 5-6 players who have had some success on this tour tour of South Africa. A team build around them can certainly win the last two matches and draw the series.

AM I TOO OPTIMISTIC..??

Yes I am. Because I am not a lair. We all Indians loves this team and every single four they hit or wicket they take - we do turn our eyes. No matter what.

The fact is cricket is in our blood and no matter who's playing it on the name of our country - we back them. Lets back our team when they need it most.

Lets stop cribbing and start finding how can we improve.

I am not here to criticise anyone but to praise Dravid-Chappell-More for strong decisions they took and I admit I agreed with most of them. But millions others questioned to which the trio said just one thing - "we are trying to find the cricketers who will form the nucleus of that World Cup squad".

From today, we have 2 ODIs in South Africa, one twenty20 match and 8 home ODI's against West Indies and Sri Lanka remaining before the Caribbean World Cup.

I believe whoever is going to West Indies in March next year, must be playing all those 8 home ODI's and perfecting their roles for the "World Cup winning Indian team".

This gives us the date of 3rd December when we play our last ODI in South Africa at Centurian.

On that day, I'm sure Dravid-Chappell and Kiran More will have at least 10 names for us out of those 15 going to West Indies in 3 months time.

And mind you, I'll make sure Mr. Kiran More comes and tells we all Indian cricket lovers that nucleus. He just can't hand over his job to Dulip Vengsarkar and go into dark after messing up with "Last Cricket World Cup finalist team".
