Match summaryAware of the fact that pitch will be slowing down with ball getting old, Deccan began their chase with purpose, attacking the new ball as Shikhar Dhawan and Cameron White adding 68 runs off just 9 overs but once Chennai separated them, captain Kumar Sangakkara departed cheaply too which forced White and Christian to bat conservatively which resulted in asking rate blowing over 15 runs an over. White struck couple of sixes off Ravindra Jadeja to raise the hope but he was exhausted thanks excessive humidity at Chennai and Chennai escaped with a margin win.
Earlier, Chennai elected to bat first at home venue knowing the changing behaviour of the pitch. Murali Vijay, having sat out few games for poor form, came out and showed hints of his old IPL show but couldn't continue for long. In-form Francois du Plessis was joined by Suresh Raina and together these two found boundaries at ease, adding 64 runs off just 44 balls with Raina striking two sixes in one over by Pratap Singh before he couldn't repeat the effort against Amit Mishra, making way for MS Dhoni who once again slowed down the run rate. Abhishek Jhunjhunwala bowled smart part time off-spin to surprize the middle order. It was Dwayne Bravo's six in last over which stretched home team to par total of 160 but they should've got good 15-20 runs more after the platform top order had set.
