3rd Test: Australia wins Sydney Test (scorecard), South Africa won Test Series 2-1.. T20 & ODI series follows.
Current Cricket Series : South Africa vs Australia, West Indies vs New Zealand. Coming Up : India in NZ 2009.

The Cape town preview

I predict 5 batsmen and 5 bowlers with 2 spinners for India tomorrow. And I'll love to see DINESH KARTHIK get a game. I know this boy can play fast bowling, as he is there in place of Yuvraj Singh - must get his chance accordingly.

But I also know Suresh Raina might play his do-or-die game tomorrow. I hope he shows what we all thought he has..!!

Last few onedayers at Capetown
:

Last International one day game at Newlands in Cape Town was SA v Aus. In March this year. South Africa had batted first but Australian run chase was the highlight here..

They were bowled out for 93 - their 4th lowest ODI total ever.

As far as last four first class one day games played at this ground are concerned - 191, 254, 224 and 243 were the first innings scores. And three of them were defended easily.Chappell and Vengsarkar.jpg

These were MTN Domestic Championship matches in South Africa, which contained every single national South African cricketer.

Lastly, the highest winning chase at Newlands Capetown is 258 by South Africa against New Zealand in that thriller in November 2000. South Africa won off the last ball with Lance Klusner hitting 4 sixes in his 42 ball 59.

The Weather forecast
:

Has no bad news for you. It says clear, fine good and everything else which is required to play an International one day cricket match.

Indian chariman of selectors - Dulip Vengsarkar has reached Cape Town and as you can see in the pitch - seems to be gelling well with coach Greg Chappell.

The Cape town Pitch :

I hate finding this particular information because I believe whatever the pitch is, both teams are given equal and same opportunities to win the game. Anyways, the news from New Lands ground in Cape town is that the pitch is cement dry. Or more importantly - very little grass.

This may mean good bounce for seamers or no turn for Spinners or may mean absolute batsman's paradise. What the pitch curator - Bennett Hewe promises is "bowling second will be an advantage as cape town is a windy city and its combination with sunshine will break the pitch into craks and cause trouble for batsmen".

I suggest you make up your own mind about the pitch or just wait till the match starts.

The match timings :

Now this is the tricky one. First two ODI's started at 1800hrs India time because they were Day-Night matches. 3rd India vs South Africa ODI is a day match and will be starting at 13.30pm IST. And the start time of 4th Ind v RSA at Port Elizabeth on 29th November (Wednesday) will also be 1330hrs india time.

Let me also inform you that the twenty20 International Indian team plays on 1st December at Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg, will be starting at 2100hrs India timing.

The injury list
:

Munaf is down with bad ankle and nearly is ruled out of this 3rd India vs South Africa ODI. whereas Virendra Sehwag is said to be fit and will be playing the match.

Sadly - there is no injury list from South African party.
