Match summary

45 matches in IPL 2012 so far, we've had 16 matches going into the last over, 7 last ball finishes and today we had the 4th 1 run victory, defended miraculously by Mumbai Indians in all Maharashtrian battle against Pune Warriors. Chasing small target of 121, home team found easy boundaries in first 3 overs but opposition captain Harbhajan Singh introduced himself early in the match against Kiwi and Aussie pair of Jesse Ryder and Michael Clarke and claimed both of them, forcing Sourav Ganguly and Mithun Manhas to rebuild the innings after early loss of in-form Steven Smith. 47 runs between the pair, Pune now had asking rate hovering around 9 runs per last four overs but they couldn't get home, falling one run behind against lethal death overs from Lasith Malinga and Munaf Patel.

Earlier, Mumbai, were off to solid but slow start with openers Sachin Tendulkar and James Franklin putting on half century from 7 and half overs before Bhuvneshwar Kumar made the first break through and suddenly, wickets started to fall once Rohit Sharma got run out. Robin Peterson's promotion as pinch hitter didn't work as 7 batsmen departed adding just 43 runs. Dinesh Karthik was left to guide the tailenders, collecting 26 valuable runs with Lasith Malinga. Mumbai suffered as many as four run outs which limited well below the par score.

Lowest totals defended in IPL : Chennai's 116 and Punjab's 119 lead the table, followed by 120 which Mumbai achieved in this match.
