Match summaryTarget of 140 in a T20 match is just not threatening enough on a pitch that may be slow but didn't had too many demons and hence, Kolkata Knight Riders began their chase conservatively, keeping wickets in hand, lead from the front by in-form captain Gautam Gambhir. Brendon McCullum departed early but Jacques Kallis added 70 runs with Gambhir to set the platform and then onwards, it was just a matter of few risky shots with penty of wickets in hand. Manoj Tiwary and Yusuf Pathan panicked and got out but fast emerging right hander Debabrata Das did the job in a well bowled final over by R Ashwin. Captain Gautam Gambhir decided to give away his man of the match award to young Das for his valuable four in the tense last over.
Earlier, Chennai started their innings with two overseas imports = the in-form Francois du Pleassis and Michael Hussey who's just landed from Carribbean. Both failed but Suresh Raina started to time the ball perfectly, keeping the scoreboard moving with Dwayne Bravo untill Jacques Kallis ate up each of them to forced captain MS Dhoni to bat out time. Pitch slowed down considerably and none of Chennai batsman managed to accelerate the innings against tight bowling from visitors, limited them to just an average total.
Fact : Suresh Raina completed 2000 runs IPL, the first batsman to reach the landmark, from 71 games he's played.
