Head to head

10th Mumbai Indians v Deccan Chargers IPL match it was and now both teams have won five each..

Match summary

Chasing smallish totals is tricky, specially when your opener is castled off the very first ball of the innings. Dale Steyn was on fire with the new ball and then young seamer Veer Pratap Singh claimed prized wicket of Sachin Tendulkar to reduce Mumbai to 3 for 45 but Rohit Sharma put his head down to the task to keep visitors at bay. Hosts lost two more wickets towards the end which might have made the match interesting but leg spinner Amit Mishra was taken for easy runs to wrap up the game.

Earlier, home team elected to bowl first on a greenish looking pitch but soon started to rue their decision as Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan timed the ball perfectly in their 37 runs opening stand inside the powerplay overs but once first wicket fell, next one followed and the pattern continued. Harbhajan Singh claimed his best figures of the season while James Franklin chipped in with two wickets in a single over but the real destroyer was Lasith Malinga, wrapping up the lower order.

Fact : Dale Steyn's four overs for 10 runs is the most economical spell of the season but it's no way the best figures ever. Fidel Edward and Ashish Nehra hold the record for their 4 overs for just 6 runs back in 2009 season. Edwards went wicketless but Nehra had a wicket too that day.
