Match summaryAs Navjot Singh Sidhu put it - "there's no point aiming a gun when you don't know when to shoot", Rajasthan just didn't throw that knock-out punch today having dominated the chase for first 18 overs and wasted wickets in dug-out. 15 runs off last two overs, Morne Morkel bowled a superb penultimate over, sending down yorkers from over 8 feet height, conceding just 3 runs besides taking a wicket, leaving 12 runs for Umesh Yadav to defend in last over. Ajinkya Rahane, who had set up the chase with 99 runs opening stand with Rahul Dravid and guided the middle order, struck a six and then took a double leave 2 runs off last ball but couldn't connect and Owais Shah was run out trying to steel a single to forced a super-over. It was a heart breaking loss for Rajasthan who did almost everything but just didn't get over the line.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and lead the batting onslought but his opening mate Mahela Jayawardene and in-form Kevin Pietersen didn't last long. Ross Taylor played out a scratchy innings, failing to hit any boundary in his 35 balls stay but while Sehwag was at the crease, runs were coming easily untill he was dismissed through a superb catch by Ashok Menaria. Royals bowled well at the death but 20 runs off Amit Singh's last over pushed home team past 150 runs mark, a near par score.
Fact : Virender Sehwag today become the first batsman to score four consecutive half centuries in IPL matches, scoring 57, 87, 73 and 63 in his last four innings and taking hold of orange cap in the process too, momentarily as Rahane took it back from him in next innings.
