Match summary
Coming into this match, having lost to Delhi at home, Mumbai must have had a sense of revenge but they also knew hosts have a strong set-up and once solid target of 208 was posted, visitors had no clue but just to attack from ball one. Sadly, Aiden blizzard, playing his first game of the season, failed to open his account while Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma perished trying to counter attack the new ball. Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik put forward a hope with 96 runs partnership but once they were separated, Delhi walked away with the match.

Earlier, Delhi were off to rocket start with Mahela Jayawardene matching stroke per stroke to Virender Sehwag. The two right handers raised a relatively watchful stand of fifty off 35 balls but accelerated well to reach hundred run partnership from just 10.4 overs and then stretched it to 135 from first 13 overs before they were broken apart. But, momentum was sustained by arrival of Kevin Pietersen who smashed 25 balls half century. Robin Peterson bowled the best taking three wickets before his figures were spoiled by Pietersen who collected 23 runs off his last over. Lasith Malinga took two wickets in penultimate over to keep home team only marginally over two hundred run mark otherwise hosts were on their way to something very big.
