3rd Test: Australia wins Sydney Test (scorecard), South Africa won Test Series 2-1.. T20 & ODI series follows.
Current Cricket Series : South Africa vs Australia, West Indies vs New Zealand. Coming Up : India in NZ 2009.
India vs South Africa 3rd ODI - Cape town review. They first fought by taking 6 wickets for 76 runs but lost the momentum and allowed the South African's hit lots of sixes on the smallish ground of Cape town at the late of Innings.
The script should have been South Africa all out for something like 140 but they scored over 270, partly because South African deep batting and partly because Team India's killer instincts. ![]() South Africa scored 105 runs in the last 8 overs and were stting pretty during the lunch interval with a total of 274. The trick for India was not to lose too many wickets early in the chase but they did opposite. At 3 for 17, Dinesh Karthik proved why he is picked up and brought hopes back for India. He fell at the score of 44 with 2 fours and a six as Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined captain Dravid. That partnership of 85 was the best part for Indian fans but sadly it ended 5 overs too early. I still believe Dravid would have won the match for us had Irfan or Harbhajan or Ajit Agarkar stayed with him. All these tailenders want to be called as "lower order' batsmen but they always fail when the opportunity. I am sure all these three along with Kumble have the ability to tackle any bowling but they lack in temperament and sometime - the will. Dravid lost out of partners, and even when scoring at 8 runs per over looked extremely easily, there was no one standing on the wicket.
Notes : -:- Dinesh Karthik, the wicket keeper played this match as a batsman and fielded without
gloves. He was very enthusiastic but was hit by Andrew Hall at the none
sticking end as he stood in the batsman's run way.He made 14 good runs and I am sure will be playing next ODI. So I just want to introduce this new Indian cricket who's also nick named as DK. -:- Paul Wiseman and Shane Bond of New Zealand held the record of highest partnership for 8th wicket - 199 runs. Justin Kemp and Hall complied 138 unbeaten for 8 wicket in this India vs South Africa ODI and now hold the record for bets partnership for the 8 wicket by any country in One day Internationals. -:- Andrew Hall was not supposed to play this match but was a last minute replacemtn of Andre Nel. South African chief selector Haroon Lograt was firm and that's why Hall played this one dayer. He made 56 and took 3 wickets as you can see in the scorecard above. -:- Mkhaya Ntini was very unimpressed by South African umpire Brain Jerling for not giving lbw decision againt Rahul Dravid. But the fact is that Makhaya has got only 8 lbw decisions in all of 137 ODIs he has played and his 218 wickets. which is just 3%. -:- ESPN new agency "sportscenter India" had found this document on South African plans for Indian batsmen and bowlers. If you read it, and remember how our batsmen got out - you will see that Sportcenter had found a very correct South African document. Related Articles |
