Match summary
Sourav Ganguly is easily the best captain India has ever produced to defend runs on board and today, he proved it, helping Pune to floor Delhi with both bat and ball.

Invited in to bat first, Ganguly first added rapid 93 runs with Jesse Ryder who smashed four sixes in his near century. Steven Smith stroked 34 off just 13 balls to finish the innings on a high. Delhi's fast bowling had yielded results so far in the tournament but today, at smallish ground Feroz Shah Kotla, it didn't, giving away 9.6 runs an over.

Delhi Daredevils had recovered well after early loss of Mahela Jayawardene to Alfonso Thomas, with Virender Sehwag putting on 75 runs with Kevin Pietersen but asking rate was still rising up. Sourav Ganguly came out as a surprise package, bowling in the tournament for the first time and claiming Pietersen as well as pinch hitter Irfan Pathan. The prized wicket of Virender Sehwag was taken by Murali Karthik and then onwards, Pune always had the noses in front, winning the match by 20 runs.
