Characteristic of a champion team is that they manage to win even when they don't play their best game and today Chennai Super Kings showed it, beating Pune Warriors marginally by 13 runs. Invited in to bat first, Chennai were given a solid opening stand of 116 runs but it wasn't a rocket by any means. Subramaniam Badrinath and Franois du Plessis consumed their share of deliveries but thanks to towering sixes from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, a solid total was put on the board.
Nuwan Kulasekara rocked Pune's chase early on, eating up both the openers but captain Sourav Ganguly, Marlon Samuels, Steven Smith and Angelo Mathews kept the flame burning till the very end.
