What should have been a highly tense match, ended up easily in Delhi's grasp thanks to a robust century from Kevin Pietersen, his first in IPL. Chasing a considerable target, Delhi had lost both their openers cheaply and even Mahela Jayawardene departed without lasting long but Pietersen was stroking the ball like a dream. He single handedly kept home team in the chase, striking 9 sixes in his ton. Yogesh Nagar was with his when winning runs came.
Earlier, Deccan built up a firm total on board thanks to 71 runs stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel. Sadly, they couldn't accelerate as well as they would have liked and didn't had the bowling power to dismantle opposition.
