What started as a comfortable season by winning the opening game, Bangalore Royals
Challengers were pegged back with back to back three losses. Today, had they lost, they
would have given a major set-back to their play-offs hopes but Chris Gayle, AB de
Villiers and Saurabh Tiwary's last ball six turned the fortunes
around..
Electing to bat first on a known batting paradise at M Chinnaswamy stadium, Pune Warriors
were off to rocket start with Jesse Ryder propelling the score initially and then Robin
Uthappa continued to attack during the middle order. home teams truck back towards the
end to limit visitors below 200 run mark but still, target overhead was more than they
would have liked.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, playing his first match of the season, was claimed by Ashoke Dinda
early on and even Mayank Agarwal didn't last long but Chris Gayle held his end firm, and
eventually launching over Rahul Sharma to smash him for five sixes in an over. Bangalore
were on course for the win untill Gayle departed, leaving Saurabh Tiwary and AB de
Villiers to go at more than 14 runs an over. Somehome, this left and right hand
combination achieved the mark and saved some hope in RCB.
