Before today, 10 bowlers had taken five wicket hauls in IPL and the only one who finished on the losing side was Munaf Patel for Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab. today, Punjab once again overcame the 11th bowler to take five-for = Sunil Narine, defeating Kolkata Knight riders by sleek margin of 2 runs..

Working on their strategy to prepare slow and low pitch at home ground Eden Gardens, Kolkata had done first job well to restrict visitors to a below par total but Piyush Chawla and Bhargav Bhatt spun the web around them in middle overs to leave asking rate just out of reach. Praveen Kumar and Harmeet Singh bowled last two overs smartly to snatch a thrilling win for Kings XI. here's how the story unfolded.

It's strange that match referee is the only person to check which side coin has landed as toss is invaluable in a cricket match. Note that most times coins are specially made and it's very easy for one man of confuse between head and tail. today, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir lofted it long and Sri Lankan raferee Graeme Labrooy declared KXIP captain Adam Gilchrist had called it wrong.

Punjab were off to okay start with Mandeep Singh enjoying his new role as opener but introduction of Sunil Narine in the 3rd over foxed aussie southpaws Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh. David Hussey added good 52 runs with Mandy to set the platform but acceleration never came along. Narine captured five wickets while Rajat Bhatia was as miser as ever. Punjab knew they had some runs on board but no way a winning total.

Paras Dogra, playing his first game of the season, had failed to impress with the bat but his acrobatic catch to dismiss Jacques Kallis in second over installed the confidence in visiting side. captain Gambhir, probably making an impression on his wife who's watching the match from KKR owners stand, played his strokes, as did Manvinder Bisla and Manoj Tiwary but as soon as these three were dismissed, runs dried up.

Debabrata Das once again proved his worth with a hard hitting unbeaten knock but Punjabi side stuck to their length to come out two runs better.

Sunil Narine was given the match of the match despite being on the losing side.
