Tag IPL-2012

Stadium buzzing high decibels and players from different countries coming together for a breathless twenty20 match, is recipe for run outs, specially when tournament is in it's first week and today Chennai Super Kings paid dearly for it, failing to recover from four run outs that they gifted to Delhi Daredevils..

Invited in to bat first after dusty thunder and mild rain delayed the game by half an hour, Chennai lost opener Murali Vijay in without facing a ball and then Suresh Raina and Subramaniam Badrinath followed similarly. 4 down for 64 at the 10th over mark, Chennai hopes depended on captain MS Dhoni and in-form Dwayne Bravo but both right handers took too long to get settled, collecting just 23 runs from 41 runs and then got out.

Morne Morkel bowled the best, extracting most out of firm Feroz Shah Kolta pitch, taking two wickets in his miserly four overs, restricting visitors to just 110, the lowest ever by Chennai against Delhi.

Delhi chase was off to three fours off first three balls off the edge of Naman Ojha's bat. Ojha was run out too but Virender Sehwag was in mood. Smashing 33 off just 21 ball, Sehwag destroyed any hopes Chennai had of revisiting the 116 they once defended against Kings XI Punjab back in 2009 at Durban which is lowest total successfully defended in IPL ever.

Kevin Pietersen, playing his first game of the season, showed he's coming in with some form, blasting unbeaten 43 runs in unbroken 61 runs partnership with Mahela Jayawardene, finishing match with almost 7 overs to spare.
