After being asked to Captain West Indies team, Brain Lara led victory on India in ODI series, beat Australia and India in Malaysia and then went on to beat the same two team and South Africa in the Champions trophy.

They knew within themselves that a test series victory in Pakistan will put them right at the nose of best International cricket teams. Sadly, this didn't happen. After losing the 1st test match at Lahore, West Indies needed a victory at Multan but they only got a draw.

The pitch was as flat as it can be and West Indian young fast bowlers failed to find an answer to record breaking Mohammad Yousuf. They did well to bowl out home team for 357 and made 591 themselves. West Indies gained a lead of 234 and had Pakistan at 24 for 1. And then 124 for 2. And then 243 for 3 and 284 for 4.

Do I need to tell you what happened next.

Note :

-:- Mohammad Yousuf scored 191 in the second innings and is at 2nd postion in all time highest run scorers in one year. Only Vivian Richards have made more than Yousuf (1710) but he still has Karachi test (3rd of the series) to make 148 more runs and over take the record. Here's the list.

-:- Brain Lara made 34th test century. He now has equalled the record of Sunil Gawaskar and is only one century behind Sachin Tendulkar for most 100s in test matches. Ricky Ponting has 32 test match centuries after his 194 against England in the first Ashes test match at Brisbane.
