Starting new season, Delhi Daredevils seems to have come with plan to depend on their bowlers to do the job up front and chase whatever targets they confront. In first match, a rain curtailed one, they did so and it worked but today at Bangalore, it didn't. Home team begin their campaign with a comfortable win, crafted by AB de Villiers and Muthiah Muralitharan..
Invited in to bat first, Royal Challengers were off to rocket start with Andrew McDonald smashing 30 off just 19 balls and adding 37 runs for opening stand with Cheteshwar Pujara from first four overs but next three overs fetched four wickets for Delhi, forcing AB de Villiers to buy time at the crease. South African skipper/keeper did so admirably, adding 54 runs with R Vinay Kumar to give his bowlers a total to bowl at.
Delhi lost their captain off the first ball but Naman Ojha and Aaron Finch went about setting the platform for the chase pretty easily. with evening setting in, match looked like going down to the wire but there came Muthiah Muralitharan. Using all his experience, offspinner foxed three batsmen in his four over spell to leave almost no chance for visitors. Irfan Pathan put up bit of fight but asking rate had already blown out of proportions.
AB de Villiers was named man of the match for his crucial innings.
