Most sixes by a batsman in an innings in IPL T20 match.
Brendon McCullum, in very first match of first IPL season, smashed 13 sixes in his innings which remained the record of most sixes by a batsman in an innings in IPL for over five seasons until Chris Gayle, on 23 April 2013, sent Pune Warriors to the dry cleaners, smashing no less than 17 big ones as he marched to fastest century and highest score in the format..

Opening the innings, Gayle remained unbeaten on 175 that day. The bowlers who suffered most by the bat of Jamaican left hander were Mitchell Marsh and Ali Murtaza (5 sixes each), Aaron Finch (4 sixes, in just one over), Ashoke Dinda (2 sixes) and Luke Wright (1 six).

It now is the highest IPL score.

Gayle first equaled and then broke Brendon McCullum's record that he made in very first match of IPL back in 2008 (unbeaten on 158 off just 73 balls with 10 fours and 13 sixes). The bowlers who suffered by the bat of Kiwi wicket keeper were Praveen Kumar (3 sixes), Zaheer Khan (2 sixes), Ashley Noffke (2 sixes), Jacques Kallis (2 sixes), Sunil Joshi (2 sixes) and Cameron White (2 sixes).

Sanath Jayasuriya, Murali Vijay and Adam Gilchrist are only three other batsmen to smash sixes in double digit in an innings in IPL cricket match.
