Mahendra Singh Dhoni - Strong and Smart!!

dhoni2.jpgMy mom hates cricket. She gets irritated even when she has to hear the sound of the television whole day, when I am watching cricket. She surely doesn't understand much of it.. but she recognises Sahin.. and asks.. is he playing all year long?? Another thing she wonders about is how these young boys keep running around the field whole day, in that heat..

Well, to play any sport, most of them at least, you got to have a strong body. And some brain. Whenever I saw our Indian cricketers like Dravid, Laxman, Kaif... I thought they looked like Chocolaty heros of our Hindi Films, while players like Mattew Hayden, Jocob Oram and Shoaib Akhtar looked like those in WWF. The Macho Mans!!

But Now Mahendra Singh Dhoni has entered and surely is the strongest man of the bunch. All the milk he had consumed till date, showed its colour when this young man smashed 183 at Jaipur, after Keeping the wickets for full 50 overs. Try to pay some attention to the wicketkeepers who have to run up to the stumps at least 3 times an over.. it makes 90 times if seam bowlers bowl 30 overs in an innings!! Even if you concentrate on his face only, he looks rough and strong. The way he hits the ball, with not much class but raw strength, his confidence on himself comes clear. Its only when he comes in a tough match situation and starts taking quick singles, we know that he also has a brain. Clear example of it being the keeping ability he has shown in such a small period of time. We all know that keeping to Harbhajan Singh and specially Kumble on Indian wickets in not an easy job.. but he didn't do any bad in recently concluded series against Srilanka.

And that's why I feel he can be our batting Trump card in Pakistan. His strength lies in playing fast bowling and Pull and Hook shots are kind of compulsion to him. And believe me, he has got the attitude to go for the shot, rather than duck under it. Having said that, he didn't do that bad against the spinning Srilanka...All in all, he has proved his presence but has rarely shown anything weak in himself.. and working out him will be really tough for the Pakisntanis.
