Team India lose to South Africa A.


It started with Irfan giving away a 4 in the very first over. Then Munaf bowled a maiden and picked up maiden wicket in his next over.

South Africa A were 40 for 1 in 10th over when Rahul Dravid called up Zaheer Khan. Zaheer picked up a wicket in his 1st and 2nd over, leaving South Africa at 59 for 3 in 15 overs.

Then the recovery :

Good teams will crush crush the opposition at this position but we all know our Indian team is a little away from being a good team. Munaf showed loads of promise, but somehow his last Champions trophy match and this match are raising questions. After bowling 2 overs for 0 runs and bowling 3 maidens out of his 9, Munaf gave away 63 off 6 overs and spoiled our grip.

And Sreesanth failed to hurry the batsmen and his pace was just perfect for South African youngsters to score freely.

The notable figures on the scorecard were from Anil Kumble - 10 overs, 2 for 31.

The start of Indian chase -

I was hoping our batsmen will read what I had written about Dale Steyn a week ago, but I think they didn't. 30 year old Alfonso Thomas then broke the partnership of Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid, which had complied 55 valuable runs.

Dhoni came before Raina and Mongia and was trapped in front of wicket to Dale Styen. Raina and Mongia followed within 6 balls, leaving Indian team 82 for 6.

The Pathan Dravid partnership :

Worth 84 runs. And took us very close to a victory that we all wanted. Kumple held the fort as Dravid tried to make runs after the fall of Irfan Pathan to a good ball from off-spinner Thandi Tshabalala.

Kumble departed in the 42nd over and then Dravid was bowled by Styen while trying to hit his 3rd six.

We fell short by 37 runs.

Virendra Sehwag, who didn't play this tour match between Indians and Rest of South Africa XI, has cut his ring finger and has received 4 stitches. He may not be available for the 1st India vs South Africa ODI at Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday.
