Asia cup, a cricket tournament between asian teams, was a major idea when it was first planned out back in April 1984 but with flooding of of bilateral series, it became increasingly tough to arrange top three teams = India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the same time. Result, we've had only 10 Asia cups in almost three decades..

In recent times, it seems like, asian giants have made a commitment to meet every second year and working on that, Asian cricket council has announced the schedule of Asia cup 2012, to be played in Bangladesh in month of March. All matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur.

It'll be a four team tournament, begining with Bangladesh taking on Pakistan on 11th March, followed by India v Sri Lanka on 13th. Each team plays another once and the top two teams on points table will reach the final, to be played on 22nd March.

This tournament has been possible because Indian cricket board has refused to hold bilateral ties with Pakistan. Moreover, IPL season 5 will be held straight after, leaving very little to no gap for arch-rivals to clash.

Fact : India won last Asia cup, in 2010, beating hosts Sri Lanka. Overall, India has won Asia cup 5 times, followed by Sri Lanka with 4 wins while Pakistan have taken the trophy home once.
