The record holders in Pak vs WI test matches.Tag
Pak vs WI
There has been three 2 test matches series', seven 3 test matches
series', one 4 test match series and two 5 test series between Pakistan
and West Indies over a period of 51 years..
But as I tell you about the records made between these two very distinct teams, one series will be common - and that's the first one ever played in 1957. 6 series have been played in Pakistan, 6 in West Indies and one in UAE (sharjah as you may know it). and the scoreline reads - 13 wins for Pakistan, 14 wins for West Indies in 41 test matches with 14 draws. Neck and neck, isn't it? So let me tell you that at home, Pakistan has won 7 test matches against Caribbean team, losing only 4 others. West Indies has lost 4 but have won 10 on their soil. Highest innings scores : 657 for 8 declared, 540 and 496 are the highest ever inning total by Pakistan against West Indies, but surprisingly, all of them have come
on West Indies pitches, Bridgetown, Georgetown and Port of Spain
respectively. For West Indies, the record is little different though. At
Bridgetown Barbados - West Indian team made 579 for 9 declared in the
very first test innings of very first test match between the two teams
and then backed it up with 790 for 3 declared in the 3rd test of the
same series. Pakistan lost 3 of 5 test matches on that tour in 1957 but
did win one of the test matches at Queen's park oval in Trinidad - the
5th and last test match of that series.Lowest Innings totals : Pakistan were bowled out for 77 in a home test match at Lahore in 1986 and that remains their lowest total against West Indies in test matches. The next two lowest totals are 104 in 1958 - again at Lahore and 106 at Bridgetown in their first ever test series. West Indies were bowled out for 127 at Port of Spain in 1992 and also for just 76 at Dhaka - Bangladesh (which was a part of Pakistan in those days) in 1959... but the lowest ever total for West Indies against Pakistan is only 53 - at Faisalabad in 1986.West Indies were given a victory target of 240 in the fourth innings but the bundled out for 53 in just 25.3 overs. Imran Khan took 4 for 30 while Leg Spinner Abdul Qadir share remaining 6 wickets from 16 runs. Highest scores in Pakistan vs West Indies test matches : 337 by Hanif Mohammad at Bridgetown in that first ever test match of very first test series in 1957. Pakistan were bowled out for 106 in the first innings and were asked to follow on when West Indies had scored 579 in their first innings. Pakistani opener Hanif Mohammad batted for over 16 hours for his 337 to deny a victory for West Indies. 189 by Wazir Mohammad at Port Elizabeth in the same series and 177 by Inzamam-ul-haq at Rawalpindi in last series between West Indies and Pakistan are the 2nd and 3rd highest individual scores. ![]() For West Indies, highest ever score by a batsmen in test matches between Pak and WI is by Garfield Sobers - 365 not out, again in that first ever test series between the two teams. This was the 3rd test. 260 by Conrad Hunte in that same series and 217 by Rohan Kanhai at Lahore in 1958 series are the other biggest scores by West Indian batsmen. The Partnership records : 446 by Conrad Hunte and Garfield Sobers at Kingston. It makes me smile but this record again comes from that first ever test series between these two countries. Highest Partnership record for Pakistan against West Indies is 323 for the 3rd wicket between Aamir Sohail and Inzamam-ul-haq. For Opening wickets, 298 for opening/first wicket - Aamir Sohail and Ijaz Ahmed in 1997 for Pakistan and 182 between Gordan Greenidge and Roy Fredericks for West Indies. Best bowling figures : 12 for 100 by Fazal Mahmood in 1958 and Corey Collymore's 11 for 134 in 2005. Note :- Writing and reading record books is probably the worst job in the World. But having said that, I know it helps people enjoy the game more. So I hope it meets your need. Or you can ask me. Related Articles |
