No surprises - Australia wins ICC Champions trophy 2006.

Do you watch Discovery? Ever seen a Lion tracking a prey.... and once it gets the hold - never leaving it.

If that's not possGayleInChampionsTrophyFinal.jpgible for you, watch Roger Federer play against any Tennis player these days. And if can't do any of the above two - watch the highlights of Australia vs West Indies final of 2006 Champions trophy.

First 5 overs yielded 49 runs at the rate of 9.8 and no wickets lost. 68% of them were scored by Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

6th, 8th and 10th overs produced wickets for Bracken (who again took the new ball istead of McGrath), and even if the scoreboard read 80 for 3 wickets at 8.3 runs per overs, Commentators - Ian Chappell and Sanjay Manjrekar called it "advantage Australia".

Those were the same people who made comments like - "field is changing every ball" and "Chris Gayle is in best form on his life" ..... just 2 ball ago. I have to mention here that I love hearing these two people talk about a cricket match on air.

But what was so wrong at the score of 80/3 in 10 overs?? West Indies, who still had 5 batsmen in the hutch, could have easily batted rest of 40 overs and reached a very competitive total.

But then, we don't need Greg Chappell or Sanjay Manjrekar to explain that to us. When Lion gets the hold of his prey, or Federer breaks his opponents serve, or when Australian cricket team draws first blood - they don't let you come back.

West Indies bundled out as they added 58 more runs. 138 was never a total for Australian to get sacred, even though Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting got out cheaply and brought an expected roar from Mumbai crowd - who obviously wanted West Indies to win after what Australia did to India few days back.

And then there was unexpected November rain in Mumbai. The result didn't change.

But that is not the end of the story - another thing that the Lion, Roger Federer and a World dominating team has in common is EGO. A lion will never allow anything else to sit beside him, neither will Roger Federer say thanks to a ball boy.

So many times I have seen Roger Federer just kicking the ball rather than returning it to the ball boys. That's not selfishness for you. That's a human nature which everyone develops when they are in dominating situation.

Same is Australian cricket team, who were eagerly waited by BCCI President Mr. Sharad Powar at tPontingSnatchTrophyFromMr.Powar.jpghe stage to "present" the Prize (ICC champions trophy 2006 as you may call it). Ricky Ponting Marched ahead, and anything but snatched the trophy from Mr. Powar - who I must add is not only BCCI's President but also is a very renowned politician of our country.

Demien Martyn, who batted wonderfully but showed smallness by asking Mr. Powar to leave the stage and let Australian team enjoy the moment. But wait a minute, am I being biased here.... wasn't Mr. Powar wrong in expecting Australian captain and team will be interested in taking pictures with him and the Champion's trophy.

sure they had earned it. they wanted it. And now they have it....who care's about a snap..!!

Shane Watson was adjudged Man of the Match and Chris Gayle was Man of the series. Or Man of ICC champions trophy you may call it.

More on Powar Ponting issue.
