Indians have been down in the dumps so far on this England tour, losing test series 0-4 and then letting England off the hook in one off twenty20 encounter at Manchester. Questions have been raised whether visiting team can rise to challenge but youngster Virat Kohli is confident his team can fight back in 5 one day Natwest series..
Speaking at pre-match press conference, Kohli points out his team is missing some prominent names but comeback is just around the corner.
"It's all about how you come back and fight," says Kohli.
"The last game (T20) we fought really well. There wasn't any sign of us letting the game go. We fought all the way through.
"There is no embarrassment (in the Test series defeat) because that is part of cricket. We were beaten fair and square - we have no complaints about that.
"We have some new faces in the team now and they are fresh and up for the challenge. We are working hard in practice."
There have been as many as five chances to originally selected Indian one day squad, with Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Ishant Sharma returning home mid-way.
Kohli assure the replacements that have arrived, in form of Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and others will stand up to the competition.
"Injuries are unfortunate but they present opportunities for the players coming in," Kohli said.
"We saw Ajinkya due extremely well on Wednesday. All those who have been called in are up for the challenge.
"It is a great chance to showcase their talent. Even when the senior players come in they can stay in the reckoning.”
