All teams around the world now have different set of players for limited overs matches and tests but for a small tour like the one Pakistan will be visiting Zimbabwe, including just a test, two twenty20 and three one day internationals, it's natural to opt for just one squad. That's what Pakistan have decided for, selecting 16 players, most of whom will be making their first mark at the highest level..
Schedule : Pak in Zim 2011.
Misbah-ul-Haq will captain Pakistan in Zimbabwe as Shahid Afridi continues to be away from top level while Mohammad Hafeez and Taufeeq Umar are given the openers slots along with left Imran Farhat making yet another comeback. Pakistan have a strong middle order with former skipper Younis Khan joining young brigade of Asad Shafiq and Umar Akmal and Azhar Ali.
Adnan Akmal, the youngest of Akmal brother, is the wicket keeper selected, ahead of his elder brother Kamran who was dropped after world cup and hasn't been looked in since. Salman Ahmed was wicket keeper for Pakistan's tour of West Indies but he failed to raise a score with the bat everytime he got a chance.
With Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz rested from this month long tour, Pakistani fast bowling attack will be spearheaded by Sohail Tanvir, the left arm seamer, along with Junaid Khan. Sohail Khan gets his first chance since making his debut back in 2009, playing a test and four one day internationals.
Aizaz Cheema is a 31 year old fast bowler who missed Caribbean tour on fitness grounds but now gets another go.
Ramiz Raja junior, no relation with former opener and now commentator Rameez Raja, is a 24 year old right handed batsman known for his attacking batting.
Yasir Shah is a 25 year old leg spinner, selected ahead of Danish Kaneria and Abdur Rehman who did pretty well on West Indies tour. Saeed Ajmal is other spinner in the squad.
