Following are some of the updates in ICC champions trophy 2006, which I am sure you are aware of but just in case....

India vs Australia, a virtual quarterfinal
:

With the win against India (see below), West Indies have now two wins which means that they are through to the semi-final of ICC Champions trophy. The India vs Australia match on Sunday, 29th of October at Mohali is the last chance for both the teams to register their second win (after they both have beaten England). Hence, whoever wins the Sundays' match at Mohali - will be through to the semi-final. The Points table.

And here's another very good article on history of India vs Australia ODI matches so far.

The India vs West Indies match :

Indian batsmen are out of form. So on the Motera pitch, which was not that difficult to bat on, Indian batsmen didn't struggled but lost important wickets at very crucial times and ultimately it was left to Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to post a respectable total.

They managed 223 off 50 overs.

The West Indies innings started with Chris Gayle demolition, who got out after making 34 off 38 balls - mostly slogging in his typical manner.

When Gayle got out, West Indies think tank sent out Dwayne Bravo, who along with other opener Shivnarine Chanderpual allowed Indian bowlers to come back. they batted slowly on not so difficult pitch and with due helping them and then both got out in the 22nd and 27th overs respectively. Then came Runako Morton and Ramnaresh Sarwan, both of whom struggled to face Harbhajan Singh and Virendra Sehwag.

Result - West Indies not losing wickets bout not scoring runs as well. and this kept both the teams interested, only to fall into West Indian bag in the last over of the match.

In short - Indian bowlers did what they could have, but batsmen spoiled the match for India.

The Pitch and due factor at Mohali :

The due factor is most at Mohali (being the Northeast venue) in all the four venues of ICC Champions trophy 2006. But having said that, the pitch at Mohali is also the best among all.

The pitch offers quite a bit of assistance to fast bowlers in the initial over but after that - become very good for batting. here's more about Mohali cricket stadium.

The other quarter final :

It's Pakistan vs South Africa which will be played today at Mohali again. New Zealand have already entered the semi-final of this tournament and the winner of this Pak vs SA match will be through to the semi-final as well. So not only you can watch some great cricket in the last match in Group B of ICC Champions trophy on Friday, but also make up your mind about how the pitch at Mohali is playing.
