Suddenly, a trend is coming into IPL 2011 that team's are finding it easy to chase targets unlike age old tradition of batting first and putting pressure later on. This may have to do with the dew factor and hence it'll be interesting to see if the pattern continues..
Today at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, Pune Warriors were inserted in to bat first and the embraced the challenge as Jesse Ryder stroked a highly entertaining half century, single handedly putting the launch pad for a huge total on board. Robin Uthappa and Mohnish Mishra were dismissed cheaply but captain Yuvraj Singh wasn't prepared to throw away his wicket. He collected 26 runs off last over and stretched his team's total to something they would have hoped to defend easily but it wasn't to be.
Delhi Daredevils finally found a nice little stand from their high profile opening pair of David Warner and Virender Sehwag as they added 75 runs off just 7 overs. Naman Ojha, Mathew Wade and Irfan Pathan couldn't make much impression but in-form Venugopal Rao was ready. he stroke three sixes in his 20 ball stay to keep Pune Warriors bowlers at bay and despite Yuvraj Singh's four wicket haul, asking run rate refused to blow up. Aaron Finch and later James Hopes smashed five sixes between them to give Daredevils their first victory of the season after defeats in first two games. This was also the first loss for Warriors after wins in first two games.
Yuvraj Singh was named man of the match for his all round performance.
