If you could make God bleed, people would cease to believe in him. there will be blood in the water and the sharks will come..
Mumbai Indians, last year's finalists, were considered invinsible after two thumping wins to start IPL 2011 but today they were defeated by debutants Kochi Tuskers Kerala, that too on their home ground, giving hope to other 8 teams (sharks) participating. How did this happen? well, dew did them in! defending solid 182, home team just could not separate Kochi openers Brendon McCullum and Mahela Jayawardene, allowing them to set a platform from where victory was just a walk in the park. 128 runs between them from first 13.5 overs, Jayawardene & McCullum made mockrey of high profile Mumbai bowling as they drove, cut and flicked, leaving 40 thousand spectators stunned.
Ravindra Jadeja was banned from IPL 3 by the BCCI for some discolosed reasons but the break seems to have helped him redicover the batsman in him. Already 4 sixes from first two games, Jadeja stroked 2 more and finished the game in style. opening Kochi Tusker Kerela's account in IPL history.
Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar didn't even raise his bat after scoring his maiden IPL T20 century, probably because he knew he was little lucky to survive few close LBW decisions early on and hence it wasn't one of his most satisfactory innings although couple of his helicopter shots ala MS Dhoni were a treat to watch. Tendulkar also snatched the orange cap, reaching the top of the list of leading scorers in IPL 2011.
Ambati Rayudu, from other end, played a much more entertaining innings to raise hopes of a solid total for Mumbai team after momentum less first half of the innings.
This was first match for Andrew Symonds for Mumbai Indians in IPL but wasn't required to bat and was vertually invisible in the field!?!
Brendon McCullum was declared man of the match.
