Tag IPL-2011

Jacques Kallis. Record of highest partnership in IPL is 155 unbroken between Adam Gilchrist and VVS Laxman. It still is but it wouldn't have been anymore had the target been little bigger for Kolkata Knight Riders. Chasing 160, Gautam Gambhir and Jacques Kallis collected 152 chanceless runs between them (except Gambhir's catch at deep midwicket which wasn't allowed as only 3 fielders were inside the 30 yard circle) and visitors reached victory banks with 9 balls to spare, with 9 wickets in hand.

Gambhir & Kallis now own the highest second wicket partnership in Indian Premier League.

Earlier, Rahul Dravid negotiated the new ball for Rajasthan Royals along with fast developing youngster Ashok Maneria and then Shane Watson (playing his first IPL game of the season) plus Ross Taylor provided the acceleration.

Royals had a distinctive record of never losing an IPL match having scored more than 145 batting first but today they couldn't defend 159.

Gautam Gambhir was named man of the match although Jacques Kallis scored more runs and even bowled his full quota of overs besides taking a catch.
