Ireland depart world cup 2011 after big chase over Netherlands.

Tag World-cup-2011

Paul Stirling scored 4th fastest world cup century. Ireland are ready for bigger stage in cricketing arena. How? that's for ICC to decide but this green & grey team has proven that they are better than all associate nations and deserve more opportunities. Today, Ireland defeated Netherlands by showing they can chase down big targets as well, overhauling substantial 306..

Invited in to bat first, Netherlands' opener Wesley had to retire hurt and then 2 wickets well for just 12 runs on board but Ryan ten Doeschate was not going to throw away his wicket. 41 runs with Alexie Kervezee and then 70 more with Barresi whi returned to resume his innings, Doeschate raised his half century from 65 balls and then got captain Peter Borren taking risk from other end. Borren raised his half century from 56 balls which allowed Ryan to rotate strike and reach his second century of this world cup, off 104 balls.

As many as 4 Netherlands batsmen were runout near the end of the innings which certainly cut them short of some 15-20 runs.

With a target over run a ball overhead, Ireland showed their skills and temprament as openers William Porterfield and Paul Stirling added 177 runs from only 26.6 overs. Stirling reached his century off just 70 balls but both openers were out 3 balls apart which may have set cat among the pegions but Niall O'Brien's cool hear took Ireland past their target with 2.4 overs remaining.

Paul Stirling's century is now 4th fastest in world cup history.
