Tag WC-2011-News

Paul Collingwood. After more than 100 days in Australia, England returned home to their families and less than a week later, they they were back in flight to Bangladesh for this world cup 2011.. needless to say, English boys are exhausted and desperate for a break but they didn't show a hint of it today as they registered convinsing win over Pakistan in their second and final warm-up match..

Invited in to bat first, England's new practical with Kevin Pietersen as openers worked as Hampshire batsman stroked his way to half century despite losing two mates from other end. Pietersen finally found Ian Bell ready to stick around with him and together, these two added 80 to set the foundation. Ravi Bopara, coming in as replacement for Eoin Morgan, justified his selection by stroking handsome 35 and adding 82 with Paul Collingwood who himself found some form after a long time. Matt Prior, in his new role as batter down the order, hit three fours but Pakistan managed to bowl out England before the quota of 50 overs.

Pakistan chase was rocked thrice before the first ten overs and all the blows came from Stuart Broad. Fit and ready to go after missing ODI series in Australia, Broad finished with five wicket haul while Paul Collingwood contributed 3 wickets from his 10 overs to give absolutely no chance for Pakistan in the chase despite a fighting half century from Younis Khan.
