Tag Cricket Grounds
It's been more than 50 years since our independence. So it is very unlikely that we recall our great freedom fighters every day, specially when we all have been born after that special day of our country.
Gujarat cricket association has done a very good thing by naming their International cricket stadium on Sardar Vallab-bhai patel , which is also called at The Motera or Gujarat Stadium. After being made in 1982, Sardar Patel cricket stadium saw it's first International match in November 1983 when Indian team played a test match against West Indies. Indian team failed while chasing a target of 242 and made the lowest Innings total of 103 all out - which still stands as the lowest at Motera.
Location - Situated at the banks of Sabarmati river, you need to get to Navarangpura in Ahmadabad in Gujarat to reach this cricket stadium. I am sure how to get to this cricket stadium is a question. And when you do, with a capacity of more than 48,000, Sardar Patel stadium is more than capable of adjusting you in.
Weather - Who can say about weather at any place anywhere in the World. So I just give you this link to weather report for Ahmedabad and hope you find your answer.
The Pitch - Very few test matches has produced results at Motera but that is the reason that ODI cricket becomes a festival at this stadium. Last four ODI innings at Sardar Patel stadium has seen a score of over 280 being chased down..... so I am sure you can have lots of fours and sixes, iff you are planning to watch a One day match at this stadium in Ahmadabad. But if a test match - I suggest you wait till day 2 or 3 before you buy your ticket and find a seat for you.
Cricketing history - Probably the greatest two Cricketers that India produced, who have left the game now, has their sweetest of memories attached to Sardar Patel Stadium in Gujarat . Sunil Gawaskar made his 10,000th run here while Kapil Dev took his 432nd wickets to over take richard hadlee's record for the most wickets by a bowler in Test matches.
