Biggest totals chased in one day cricket is one list Aussies don't like because they are at the defeated side in the top of that table but today, they punched their name straight at the 4th position to salvage some pride. interestingly, England today scored more than 300 for the first time against Australia but ended up losing the match in a high scoring game..
Sydney cricket ground, for this dead rubber as home team has already taken inaccessible lead of 4-1 in 7 match Commonwealth Bank series, came up with perfect ODI pitch and electric outfield and England had no hesitations electing to bat. Matt Prior was out to a magical delivery from Mitchell Johnson but captain Andrew Strauss and Jonathan Trott set the foundation with solid 80 run stand. Jonathan Trott continued on through to his century while likes of Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan accelerated from other end. England used their batting powerplay early and got 43 runs off it for the loss of one wicket.
Aussies started their chase in a rapid manner, with Shane Watson creaming balls like he was up against a second string side. After Watson, Aussies promoted Mitchell Johnson as pinch hitter but he batted like a professional batsman, rotating strike and lofting occassionally as he put on 79 with Callum Ferguson. Johnson made his second ODI half century. home team never let asking runrate blow out of their grasp and even Michael Clarke batted well to keep up the pace on a placid pitch. Clarke made his second consecutive ODI half century and was last man out when match was almost in his team's grasp.
Jonathan Trott was named man of the match.
